Q&A with Sheila!

Given the surge in the popularity of Zoë after our previous blog post, we thought we’d keep the “get to know us” postings moving.   Inspired by Metrocurean’s “Five Bites”, we decided to do a quick question and answer session with Sheila, the general manager of Punk’s in Annapolis.

1. What is your favorite thing to eat at Punk’s?

Sheila:  Well, it depends on the circumstances, but my go-to meal is a Skinny Chicken Sandwich with a side of Fruit Salad with Honey and Mint.  I probably eat this three to four times and week.  If I have a little more time (and the use of both my hands) I love the Fiery Flat Iron Steak Skewers.  And if I’m literally running around before service, I eat a small side of the Roasted Corn and Bean Salad — I imagine it to be my version of those power gel packets that athletes eat during competition.  Clearly I am not an athlete.

2. What is your favorite thing to eat when you’re not at Punk’s?

Sheila:  My favorite meal at home is cheese grits.  But if I’m eating out, there’s really nothing like great crabs.  I really love the ritual of eating crabs — sitting, working, eating, drinking, making a mess, eating some more…it’s a perfect way to spend a day.

3. If you could take a weekend off, what would you do?

Sheila:  Is this a trick question?

4. What do you like the most about the Washington, DC and/or Annapolis, MD areas?

Sheila:  I love that people are really smart, informed, and active in their communities.  It’s energizing that really intense enthusiasm and dedication exists on a day to day level — whether it’s politics or the arts or the dining scene or the preservation of the Chesapeake Bay, people really know what’s going on and they care.  I think that makes for a great community.

5. Tell us something interesting about yourself!

Sheila:  I’m not really sure if this qualifies as interesting, but people tend to be pretty surprised when they learn that I’m into UFC Ultimate Fighting Championship.  UFC is a promotor of mixed martial arts competitions between seriously skilled athletes — I think I love it because it feeds my über-competitiveness.  My favorite fighter is heavyweight Frank Mir, who has a lot of talent and awesome hair.
