Expanded Bar!


In case you missed it, we recently expanded our bar area adding more draft beer lines and giving ourselves a bit more space. It’s been a long time coming.  The demand for craft beers in the Annapolis area has been growing substantially over the last few years and we figured y’all needed someone to step up to fill the void.

The new bar area gives us lots of great new options. We now have twenty draft lines – 19 craft beers lines and 1 red sangria line – that will be rotating on a regular basis. We will continue to try to bring unique and interesting beers to Annapolis that you can’t find at very many other places. We will also make sure that the beers remain accessible and freaking delicious. We also have more room for liquor and wine now which means you’ll see an expanded cocktail list and an expanded wine list in the next few months. So keep an eye out for that.

At the end of the day, we think it’s a pretty solid change. Sheila is sad that the tree and the umbrella are gone, but we think she’ll get over it. Dave is sad that we couldn’t fit in 9000 more draft beer lines, but we think he’ll get over it. Isaias wanted Patron Silver on tap, but we vetoed that idea. And our bartenders wanted to make the entire restaurant one big bar, but we vetoed that too. We think you’ll be happy with the change, but there is only one way to find out. Cheers!


Don’t Forget – Dominion Pint Night Thursday, Dec. 20th!


Our next pint night has nearly arrived! On Thursday, December 20th at 5pm we will be tapping four kegs and cracking one bottle from Dominion Brewery in Dover, DE. The beers that we will have on hand are Hop Mountain Pale Ale, Millenium Barleywine, Espresso Stout, Baltic Porter and the 2009 Whiskey Barrel Aged Millenium Barleywine. Phew, that’s quite a lineup. We’re pretty excited about the whole thing and are certain you are going to want to be in attendance.

Happy hour runs until 6pm and we will be offering $2 off all beers until then. The Dominion crew will have some glassware to giveaway plus some interesting swag for y’all. Get here early and stay late. That’s the best advice we have for you.

Draft Punk Cask!

Mark your calendars for…TOMORROW! We just got our hands on a pin cask of Draft Punk, our tasty house IPA and we can barely contain our excitement. The fine folks up at Oliver Ales in Baltimore brew this beer for us and it’s not too often that we get a cask of it. Needless to say, we’re excited.

Here are the pertinent details:

When: Friday, September 28th at 5pm

Where: Punk’s Backyard Grill in Annapolis

What: Cask of Draft Punk, a 7% IPA brewed in Baltimore

Who: You and me and Sheila and Jon and Ronnie and Dave and Rob and Kate and Jacque and Steve and Marisa and a bunch of other cool people

Why: Seriously? Where else are you drinking a tasty cask on a Friday night in Annapolis. NOWHERE.

Flying Dog Firkin! Wednesday, August 29th at 5pm.


We are teaming up with those fine folks at Flying Dog to bring you a cask of one of their latest creations, a single hop imperial IPA made entirely with Chinook hops. This 10% abv monster is crazy hoppy and delicious and is sure to impress you on cask. It definitely impressed us. And as you can see, it’s getting  rave reviews.

We’re certain that the Flying Dog crew will be giving away some good lookin’ swag  and we might throw some gift cards in the mix to raffle off. We will be offering $5 pours all night long and it’s going to be damn delicious.  So call your friends, call a cab, and find your way to Punk’s on the 29th. Festivities kick off at 5pm and go until you prove your worth and kill the firkin.

Pint Night With Dawson’s Liquors! Thursday, July 26th, 4pm – 8pm

We’re back at it with a fresh pint night for ya!

We will be teaming up with Dawson’s Liquors, serving up two of their collaboration beers for a mere $4 each. The beers we will be pouring, in addition to our regular lineup, are Monk Czech and The Big D. Monk Czech is a Czech pilsner fermented with Belgian yeast, made in conjunction with Old Dominion Brewing in Delaware. The Big D is a double IPA brewed with orange peel, lemon peel and orange blossom honey, brewed at Oliver Ales in Baltimore. Both of these beers are limited and they won’t be around for long. The Dawson’s folks will be on hand with prizes and whatnot for your enjoyment.

The event will run from 4pm – 8pm on Thursday, July 26th at Punk’s Backyard Grill.

June 14th Beer Dinner – Backpacking Through Europe

Ever wanted to backpack through Europe?  How about backpacking through Europe without having to actually carry a backpack and getting to sleep in your own bed?  Well, you’re in luck.  A ticket to our next beer dinner is like a Eurail ticket, only with much better food.

The June 14th beer dinner at Punk’s will feature a whole mess of ridiculous European beers.  We’ll stop in Italy, Norway, Denmark, Scotland, The Netherlands, and Germany.  We’ve got a killer lineup in store for you, including some favorites from gypsy brewers, some collaborations, and some beers you’ve never heard of but won’t know how you lived without.

Chef Dean has created, as usual, a fantastic menu to pair with these stellar brews.

Flying Dog Event Cancelled, Different Cask Secured!

Well, unfortunately the Flying Dog dueling firkin event has been cancelled. The dueling firkins will be put on hold for the moment and hopefully rescheduled for sometime in the near future.

But don’t fret, dear guests. We’ve gotten a hold of another cask to hold us over! This one comes from one of our favorite breweries, Firestone Walker in Paso Robles, CA. I’m sure that many of you have indulged in a Double Jack or Union Jack while at Punk’s, or perhaps sipped a Firestone Walker Reserve Porter (on tap now!) or a Nectar IPA. Firestone Walker makes killer beers and this cask will be no different.

We are lucky enough to have in our possession a cask of their Velvet Merlin, a ridiculously delicious oatmeal stout aged partially in bourbon barrels. It has notes of cocoa and coffee with a smooth, bourbon note in the finish. Turns out it’s also highly rated by those beer geek websites. It’s going to be killer. This beer won a gold medal at the Great American Beer Fest in 2010 and has won numerous more awards since. You won’t want to miss this one. We’ll be tapping it at 4pm on Thursday, May 17th and to keep things simple, we’ll rock discounted $5 pours and a 10% food discount. Boom!

Dueling Casks from Flying Dog on May 17th at Punk’s!

We’ve teamed up with the good folks from Dawson’s Liquors and the fine people at Flying Dog Brewery to put together what is guaranteed to be a killer event.  The Dawson’s crew and the Punk’s crew have each created our own, unique cask conditioned beers at Flying Dog. We chose the base beer, chose all the cask ingredients and we’re debuting both of the beers on Thursday, May 17th starting at 4pm. You can try them side by side and crown the champion.

Not only will it be a killer event, but you’ll be able to try two incredibly unique beers that won’t be available anywhere else, ever. That’s pretty swell, eh? And where else are you going to get delicious cask beer in Annapolis? Nowhere. And I’d put good money on the Flying Dog crew bringing some swag for the people, since they’re good like that.

To top things off, just because we like you, we’re going to offer 10% off all food purchases and $4 pints from both casks while they last. Can’t beat that deal. So let’s show this town that we love real beer and kill some firkins.
