We are sad to announce that today, Sunday, January 6th, is Punk’s final day of business. We are tremendously grateful to all of our loyal customers and to the Annapolis community. Thank you all for making our four years of business so fun, exciting and delicious.
It’s pretty ugly out there today, so we will be CLOSED on Monday, 10/29 while we ride out the storm. We hope to be back to normal business hours tomorrow, 10/30. Stay tuned to the blog, facebook page and twitter feed for more details. Stay safe out there!
It’s been a while since we posted any sort of recipe here on the blog, so we figured we were due. We love to pickle things here at Punk’s and one of our favorite salad additions is pickled red grapes. Some of you may recall the Duck Confit Salad that was on the menu here for a year or so. That salad was a tasty combination of mixed greens, duck confit, pickled red grapes and manchego cheese, topped with a pinot noir reduction. It was pretty damn tasty.
The pickled red grapes are unique and they’re easy to whip up at home. No fuss, just tasty results. Here is what we do.
3 cups red wine vinegar
1 ½ cups sugar
2 each bay leaves
2 cinnamon sticks
6 whole cloves
6 whole allspice
1# red grapes, cut in ½
Bring all ingredients except the grapes to a boil. Allow it to simmer for a few minutes, then take the mixture off the heat and let it cool. Add the red grapes that have been cut in ½. Store the entire mixutre in an air tight container in the fridge for up to 1 week. They’re ready to eat immediately, but can definitely benefit from sitting in the liquid for a day or two. Throw them in a salad, with some mixed olives or eat them on their own. Enjoy!
Well, we couldn’t resist bringing the shrimp skewers back for a little while. They’ll only be on for a limited time, but they’re here today and will be here through the week. You get two skewers, mixed greens and flatbread for $11. But don’t sleep on this one, it’s only for a limited time.
And since it’s raining, we thought we’d whip up a batch of our new Maryland Crab Chowder! Fresh lump Maryland blue crab meat and Old Bay makes this a dish you don’t want to miss. It’ll certainly warm you up on this cold, cold day.
Don’t those look tasty?! We dry rubbed these delicious pork ribs with a special rib rub blend we make in house. I can’t give away all of our secrets, but the rub includes paprika, kosher salt, brown sugar, granulated garlic, onion powder, chili powder, black pepper, cumin, and cayenne. How could that possibly be bad? We then roast these tasty morsels in the oven for five hours until they pull right off the bone. Mmmmmmm.
Get them while they last, they’re just a special and are selling like hot cakes (or, I guess, like ribs). $18.50 nets you a half rack, a mixed green salad and your choice of side. Happy Friday!
We still don’t have any fryers (that’s not changing anytime soon, so if you want fries, you’re out of luck), but we have added a new bar snack, chicken wings! They’re freaking delicious. We have two options for ya, both of which are kinda spicy. We have a traditional buffalo sauce that we make as well as a killer habanero jerk sauce. They’re $6 for 6 wings, available after 3pm at the bar or in the dining room.
How, you may ask, do we make wings with no fryer? Easy. Season them, roast them, finish them on the grill, toss them in delicious sauce, give them to you. Boom. We will be rolling out a few additional items on the bar menu over the next week or two, so stay tuned for more snacks.
We’re still hashing out some of the details of our upcoming beer dinner, but we’ve finalized the date and the menu, so we figured it was time to let you sign up! The dinner will start at 7:00pm with a “cocktail hour” type reception, followed by five courses. There will be a beer paired with each course and we reckon it’s all going to be pretty damn delicious. Cost is $65 per person.
Tickets can be purchased online or in the restaurant. The easiest way to snag a ticket is through this link to Eventbrite – http://punksbeerdinner.eventbrite.com/ . The event is password protected, so when you hit the page that asks for a password, type in “punks” and you’re good to go. You are, of course, welcome to buy tickets at the restaurant too. We fully expect this dinner to sell out, as every one up to this point has, so don’t sleep on this. Reservations are capped at 80.
Without further ado, the menu is below.
We’re rolling out new menu items over the next few weeks and to keep you up to date, we’ll be sharing photos and descriptions of each with you as they become available.
Up first, Mocha Pie! A chocolate mousse pie with a crust made of chocolate wafers and pretzels and topped with espresso whipped cream. It’s light, creamy and freaking delicious. Available now at Punk’s!
