Flying Dog Event Cancelled, Different Cask Secured!

Well, unfortunately the Flying Dog dueling firkin event has been cancelled. The dueling firkins will be put on hold for the moment and hopefully rescheduled for sometime in the near future.

But don’t fret, dear guests. We’ve gotten a hold of another cask to hold us over! This one comes from one of our favorite breweries, Firestone Walker in Paso Robles, CA. I’m sure that many of you have indulged in a Double Jack or Union Jack while at Punk’s, or perhaps sipped a Firestone Walker Reserve Porter (on tap now!) or a Nectar IPA. Firestone Walker makes killer beers and this cask will be no different.

We are lucky enough to have in our possession a cask of their Velvet Merlin, a ridiculously delicious oatmeal stout aged partially in bourbon barrels. It has notes of cocoa and coffee with a smooth, bourbon note in the finish. Turns out it’s also highly rated by those beer geek websites. It’s going to be killer. Here’s a link to their website with a bit more info on the Merlin – http://www.firestonebeer.com/beers/products/velvet-merlin-fall-and-winter

This beer won a gold medal at the Great American Beer Fest in 2010 and has won numerous more awards since. You won’t want to miss this one. We’ll be tapping it at 4pm on Thursday, May 17th and to keep things simple, we’ll rock discounted $5 pours and a 10% food discount. Boom!

Here’s a pic from Dave’s recent trip to the Firestone Walker Brewery!
