To Every Season…

We’re trying to get you excited for the fall season so before you read the post below, start the video to help set the mood 🙂

Fall.  What a great time of year.  It reminds us of cozy fireplaces, picking apples, changing leaves and pumpkin pies.  I’m not sure what it reminds you of, but one thing is for certain, the seasons are changing quickly and in just a few weeks summer will be a distant memory.

And when summer goes, so do the days of  fresh corn, lovely ripe tomatoes, and peach cobblers.  But that’s ok, we don’t mind.  Because with fall comes a whole new crop of produce that provides the restaurant (and you at home) with an opportunity to take a new approach to food.

We recently asked Chef Dean what he likes to cook when the fall arrives and his answers were mouth-watering delicious.  We can’t share too many details with you yet, as we don’t want to spoil the excitement of the Punk’s fall menu.  But rest assured, there are a lot of things on that list that we’re still trying to figure out how we lived without all summer long.  Expect to see apples, pumpkins, squash, sweet potatoes and much much more.  We’ll be firing up the grill with some new items and new approaches that we think you’ll love. And we’ve already started on the apple pie – check out this video for a sneak peek…

Also, for you home cooks, there are a lot of great references out there for how to use fall produce and what grows this time of year.  There is a great Food and Wine outline of fall recipes that you can find on their website and a nice overview of fall produce on Chowhound that’s available here.
